We got it at Lowes, the Valspar granite paint, it's like $45 a gallon, and the gold flakes are separate, so probably figure $50 to paint it. But staining wasn't really an option.

I'm glad to have inspired you :D

matt. do you have your top extra secured so your arro doesnt jump up , hit the top and get out? what secures it? ... i had a nice silver arrow once , got to around 2 feet, but while i was away it got out. i had tops on , but i guess i should have put "bricks" or something on top.

also, how do you find your arrow does withyour Sds and Oscars? behaivor wise. any aggresion issues? .... have you ever tried Dicsus with Aro? ( wait i think maybe you do have a small arow in with your discus   ) ?

I have 25lbs of weight on each lid, as for the top canopy on the hood, which is what I think you were talking about, if they managed to push that up, and still find their way out, I'd hand them my car keys and wallet and tell them to enjoy life on the outside.

The top of my hood is 3/4" plywood. :P

I actually don't have my oscars anymore, but when I did have everyone together, they all got along great. The only aggression I've ever seen from any of my aro's is occasional tail nipping, but they can't even manage to get a hold on each other and I don't see any damage being done so I'm not too worried.

Yes, I had my small guy in with the discus, he was a great roommate for them.
