gorgoroth created the topic: DIY Biofilter (small)

Just wanted to show you guys my homemade nitrate filter without alot of hassle around it...

i've been reading some dutch forums on how to reduce nitrates and lots of them say seachem denitrate is uber for it so i went and bought some.

as a container i just used a container from my goldfish's food, a 5W 200LPH pump is used for the circulation and a piece of blue sponge is placed just above waterlevel in the tank to catch the outflow of the container without making any noise.

well so far nothing yet, i guess the bacteria need to get active first, i'm guessing 2-3 weeks and i should have 0 nitrates :)

Well the materials in this one is pretty basic: some blue sponge under the lid and everything else is seachem de-nitrate, i'll probably incorporate it into my sump once i get another stand for my tank. but that is something for the future...
