TrevorB702 created the topic: Simple DIY Aquarium stand

well last weekend I finally decided to make the bedroom switch to my new room the only problem i had after clearing the room out was a finding a stand that is suitable to hold my aquarium that I will be able to sleep at night without worrying about the tank collapsing and my oscar dying anyways after lots of thought and wanting to do it cost effeciant so I have more money to spend on better things that give my oscar a better life and not just make it look good this is what i decided to do for a quick fix/solution chances are I will be getting a real aquarium stand soon but for now it seems really sturdy and actually I dont think it looks too bad,I couldnt ask for anything more considering in the end it only cost me 8 bucks anyways opinions? what do you think about my DIY stand?

I am a fan of them as along as you get them lvl which is not hard to do with styrofoam and what not!

What did you use on the bottom to spread out the weight how thick is that wood?

looks good to me as well, and with the central pillar and the thick wood you should be ok.

Very sturdy, and in a sense, modernist.

Sometimes you do what you have to do. Looks good to me. I had actually considered doing the same thing. :)

I would have made it taller to be able to put a big canister underneath

Buy some wood shims, glue them to the cinder blocks, buy a sheet of drywall and drywall tape/putty. Sand it down and paint it. DONE

I like cheap, and i like sturdy even more.
But on top this looks good, allthough i may have used a bit thicker wood.

Yeah actually the height thing is one thing I was unsure of because I did want it a little more off the ground, but for now this is just a temporary solution everything in my new room was coming together so fast and I wanted my oscar down here before I could call it home so I went thinking of a quick sturdy safe fix however later on I might get some thicker wood and perhaps raise it up a little bit I also really like the idea of drywall and painting it also.
