So I get occasional "brown algae" in the tank every so often....would like to hear feedback on anyone that uses this or similar products..Thanks.

not sure what is the composition of that item but looks like just a volcanic cinders...
i have some substrate like that in my dragon fin tank ...

brown algae can also occur as a result of silicate compounds that are put into tap water. I would get a phosphate test kit and see what the phosphate levels are from your tsp water first. If the reading is low, the the phosphate removers will not help.

i believe so... though i have not even thinking about it ever since LOL!
that billiard ball had been there for more than 5 years now...

OK, I indeed have high phosphates causing my minor brown algae. Anyone have or know of a product that does not get spent over a short period of time? Draco you mentioned volcanic cinders, what is your thought behind them in that its controlling algae growth? If that will actually work for my problem perhaps I will purchase some and drop into a mesh in the AC?
