i have an idea for the POTM. instead of just sending you guys any old picture of our fish, why not have a theme for each month. like Black and White photos, fish acting silly, or action shots. i think that would make it more interesting and maybe a bit more fair to people who dont have these really nice cameras.

I also see the other side, it is hard as hell to get people to read the rules the way it is let alone changing them.

I don't have a "Great" camera, but it doesn't take one. It takes time and patience. I can take 200 pics before I get a great one... Just keep trying.

could work if it was every so often? like not every month but every so often throw a theme in.. maybe?

i like the theme idea it gives people something to aim for and more of a challenge

I think the photo of the month contest is a nice staple of the site. and I see Nicki's point about change may just confuse people or cause people to lose interest.

Adam, maybe you can just start a seperate thread (or threads, periodically) that has themes.

Although that's an awesome idea, and I would agree with the idea, but as Nikki said it's probably going to be hard to start that due to the fact people don't like to read the contest rules.. I think it would be a great thread or section for the forum though!
