That is quite a responsibility to take on, although it's totally up to you if you want to do this. I was thinking the other day that we should get an online shop to sponsor the competition, if they give us a prize every month then we give them free advertising. I've got a couple of shops in mind, however, since the majority of visitors we kept are actually from the United States, some of you over the pond may want to approach someone you know and ask them if they want to sponsor us, maybe pass on the details to me so I can do it myself.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

I totally agree, offering a prize is definitely an incentive and any online retailer would be foolish not to take up the offer, after all day with a permanent advert on our homepage, plus an advert each month on the forum.

This is a letter I have penned out
Dear Sir,

I am the owner and administrator of a website called www.Oscarfishlover.com. The website is based in the UK, however we have a worldwide audience with over 7000 members and in excess of 2000 hits each day. We hold a photo competition each month for members to submit photos of their fish. Because our website is not funded by anyone, we have not offered any prizes as there is no money available for this. However, we would like to offer a small prize each month to the winner of the photo competition, therefore we are approaching online aquatic retailers in the hope that they will sponsor the photo competition and offer a small prize each month, maybe a packet of cichlid food for an example. What you would get in return is a permanent advert on our homepage stating that you are sponsor, and with a link back to your own website. You would also get an advert in the first and last post each month of the photo competition. We would require you to post the prize to the winning member which could be anywhere in the world, however most members we have are either in North America, or the UK.

Our website is primarily an Oscar fish advice forum and website, however our forum doesn't only cover Oscars, we will be adding more forums shortly so people can talk about different types of fish, including marine fish.

Please get back to us if you are interested in becoming a sponsor for Oscarfishlover.com

Many thanks

Dotti that is a great idea! A sponsor would be good but until then.... Id love to have the winners pic displayed on the forum page banner at the top for a month but thats a lot of work on Penn.

Your idea is awesome and I'll be happy to help any way I can!

There is a fine line between sanity and insanity.... Come walk it with me!

PENN & DOTTIE,

I think that is awesome of you Dottie! I very much agree with Penn....it is a huge/pricey task to take on.

Penn, the fishstore that I use, and make a rather large "donation" to monthly is

Elmers Aquarium & Pet Center
4005 William Penn Highway
Monroeville, Pa 15146
elmersaquarium.com

It is privately owned & specialize in a large variety of fish, both fresh & salt. I thought maybe you could send them a letter & ask for donations. You can even throw in that rewards acct #23618 referred you! That way maybe the owner seeing a personal connection rather than a bulk mailing may inspire him more.....just a thought!

Thank you both!
