Yes true.. U can see it more. But I think it adds a bit of "Mystery" and darkness to the tank. The dark sand gives A whole new look.

I agree! Looks great :woohoo:

great pics. that one tiger O has GREAT markings. :cheer:

the black sand looks great also. I am so tempted to taking my sand out and putting black (small gravel/sand) substrate. and painting the stands and canopys black. (Plus it would match the rest of my living room.)

how did you remove all the white sand efficeintly?

I took about Half of the water out.. Then started scooping with a water pitcher. Took awhile and if u look closely some white sand was left over but nothing to worry about. I painted the bottom glass black.
I also left one side of the tank without sand. Its easier to gather and clean poo and keeps the sand out of the canister filter.
Yup :) the tigers can look good if they play nice, those 2 lutinos can nip them good.. They fight alittle. So some damages can been seen in the finage.

I suggest putting in black sand.. Nice change in scenery.

I'm not entirely sure that the colors are from a variety of foods.. But If it is then I'm happy with the results :)
Thanks!

thanks Jason!

so awhile back i decided to jump back into the Oscar game after the lost of my Jardini..
while at my LFS i came across a pair of "blueberry" oscars. Not only did they not look blue, they had Ich and didnt swim much. I felt bad and decided a rescue mission was at hand. I was fully aware of the process these fish had to endure to make them "blue" and i also knew that they wouldnt live very long...
It took about 2 weeks to rid them of the Ich. after that they began to swim and eat like how oscars should. soon after their "blueberry" coloring has turned to a soft orange. in all im very happy with how well and FAST these twins have been growing.

Pic was taken in January..

Febuary...

recently they have both been growing in different directions.. One oscar is Long and the other is Tall. their black edging has faded into a gray. one has a longer face than the other, while the other has a rounder profile. they both still swim together but recently ive notice alot of lip locking. a vibrant red/orange has also started to develope.

today..

thanks for looking! ...my update on my last tiger coming up
