have you tried doing a clean install instead of an upgrade.
you will have to reinstall the programs you want to run but perhaps that will be easier than the frustration you are currently experiencing

Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

Must be doing something wrong mate...my 64 bit windows 7 has been flawless for a year now....

Just make sure you install all available updates and things should be dandy :)

Yes, I've got to admit that I do quite like Windows 7, just venting my frustration :-)

I get what your saying penn mate...I had no end of troubles with windows xp and vista on my old pcs...just a total joke.

i went from xp to a new lappy that had vista, which i removed after 3 days and put a beta version of 7 on it (this was before 7 came out) then went back to XP which i love and know, then back to windows 7, i mean i like it, its good....but i all i use my computer for is web browsing, i dont use it for gaming like i used to, have the 360 for that now.

but after using even the most basic macbook that my mate has (and he was never a mac person) i loved it, so easy and fast!

problem i see with windows is just they arent in the game anymore. It wont be long before a larger majority in my opinion will be using macs rather than PC.

ive been using PC computers basically every day for the past 12+ years and im only 23 so im looking forward to the transistion into mac, lol.

vent away, vent away.

I have been using windows 7 64bit ultimate for about a year. I must say that I love most aspects of the operating system. I also use linux (mint/ubuntu) every once in a while. But this win 7 has been great for me.

I hope you get things figured out Penn. :)

Well, this is about the sixth time I have tried upgrading from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit and this is the sixth time it has failed, I am at a loss and I'm not going to do it again, I will just have to stick with Vista for the time being.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)
