OFL created the topic: Two monitors on one PC

Hey guys, I have a question regarding connecting two monitors to one PC. I have collected two monitors to my PC, however when I switch the computer and in the morning, all of the desktop icons have shifted from the main screen to number two scream. So basically you have your main screen with the task bar but I completely empty desktop, the monitor that doesn't have anything on it, now has all the icons displaying. I can't work out why they automatically move over every time I start the computer in the morning

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

Try going to computer and messing around with the display settings, if you make a mistake it should convert back in 15 seconds (ex. If your screen go completely black, wait 15 seconds, they should reappear) As long as you dont confirm the settings they should go back to normal. But I think that its detecting the wrong screen as your main monitor, and I think you may just need to switch it? If im reading what you said correctly. I'll ask my mom if what I said didnt help lol, shes good with computers.

When you go to display settings which screen is set to number 1? Which one is set to number 2.

The monitor on the shelf is set to 1.the other monitor which is widescreen is set to number two. The number the number one monitor is called is called a generic non-PHP monitor, whatever that means.

I swapped the connections around the didn't really make a lot of difference. I still had to move the icons across, I will have to see what it's like in the morning. Anyway, it would be nice to know what is going on

I've encountered this problem before, and there is a fix. I'll try to remember.

Any chance you can get drivers for the non-PHP monitor?

Is this how you want to ultimately have your desktop, with icons and taskbar on the same side?

the only problem you have is that you desktop settings set to auto-arrange icons probably, right click your desktop, go into view mode, and uncheck auto-arrange icons, that usually does the trick, i'm running 6 monitors on my main desktop from 2 matrox triple head to go and it works like a charm.

penn , that is what happens from my experience also.

you can drag and drop the tool bar to what ever side of one of the monitors you want. i typically kept my tool car on one of the sides and all of my widgets and icons on that same monitor. keeping one monitor free of clutter.
