I already run the phones on WiFi.
AT&T was U-verse. So I didn't have to worry about routers or anything.
But now I am switching to our cable company and they supply only a regular Internet modem , but no router.
It's not that I couldn't figure this all out the hard way , or understand it if I tried.

I just don't want to.

I know quite a few of you guys are very tech savvy , so I figured I would get some great advice here.

Thanks again.

You're welcome Sandra. :)

To be honest, it's way simpler than proper fishkeeping, and you are a master at that.

The reason I have my smart phone use 3G all the time, rather than local Wi-Fi, is I seldom ever even use 1/4 of the 3G bandwidth that I pay for. When I'm home and want to get on the internet, I'm on my desktop, which is wired (and, thus, way faster than 3G or local Wi-Fi). When I'm at work and might actually like to use Wi-Fi rather than 3G on my smart phone, our corporate IT dept has so many web sites blocked that it doesn't matter anyway. :S

Basically, like the other's said, it's hard to go wrong with Linksys, D-Link, or Netgear.

One last thing. Make sure your cable company isn't charging you a monthly "rental" fee for you cable modem. I bought my own cable modem at Wal-Mart (Motorola Surfboard) and have saved myself probably ten times the cost of paying the monthly rental fee. Recently, my cable provider (Charter) decided to drop their monthly cable modem rental fees and sent me, free of charge, a brand new cable modem. It's still in the box, unopened, in my closet, as a backup.
