I know how to locate the USB 2.0 port by going into device manager, however how'd you know which one it is on the back or front of your computer?

Yes, he is certainly the man. I'm afraid when it comes to the working on the computer, I'm pretty clueless, I much preferred to mess around with websites, I know where I am there. :-)

I'm just looking at my USB under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in device manager. I can see that the top two have enhanced host controller in the description. I believe that these are the USB 2.0. However, it doesn't tell me which ones they are on the computer. I'm not entirely sure, but it may be a case that they are labelled, maybe one of them is on the front of the computer and if you look closely, it says USB 2.0 next to the USB socket

USB 2.0 is the standard for laptops from the previous generations, it is really hard to tell which is located where from the device manager without plugging something in. as far as i know your laptop would have to be older then 5-6 years to even have anything below USB 2.0.

To be honest the only way I know how to do that would be the old school method of trial and error. Get a USB 2.0 thumb drive, plug it into each USB port on your PC, transfer a large file (same file each time) to it, and time how long it takes.
