OFL created the topic: Samsung S27D590 PC monitor issue

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can you me some advice on a PC monitor I've bought in the last few days. When I switch my computer on, the monitor doesn't come on like you would expect it to, you've literally got to switch it on from the North switch which is located on the back. However, the most puzzling thing that I've noticed has been happening is after about 2 1/2 hours, I get this little box, in the bottom right-hand of the screen telling me that the monitor is going to switch off. There is the choice to click on an option to stop going off, but it's not clickable when you hover over. After 1 min the monitor turns off and there's absolutely no way to switch it back on other than using the on off switch. I can't understand why it's doing it, initially I thought it was the setting in the screensaver part, I made sure that my monitor or computer does not switch off at all. But it still doing it. So, any ideas?

Sounds like it is a monitor setting (i..e, on the monitor itself), independent of the computer. There should be buttons on the front or side of your monitor to be able to click and activate the popup box. Just a thought, I am not familiar with this particular monitor, however, but have dealt with similar issues on others.

That certainly makes sense, I will have a look later. There doesn't appear to be any settings I can access on the actual computer. There are drivers that I can install, but obviously I don't think these would have anything to do with these settings.

I've just been looking at the manual online and there does appear to be an on off timer so hopefully I can sort the problem out

I sorted the problem, it was just a case of going into the menu on the monitor and switching a few things off. Basically you could set the monitor to switch off automatically, obviously this wasn't very helpful for me. Everything is working fine now, and it's a bloody nice monitor, I am very very pleased with it.
