lol after watching my friend scream and yell in frustration trying to update a video card driver on his vista machine was enough for me to bypass that update to the new OS lol.

the main problem with xp is that it is outdated. soon there will be no more updates for it and it will become obsolete like win 98.

when xp can out i was a firm beleiver that 98 would be hard to improve upon and i stayed with 98 for a long time. but eventually the changing times made xp a better choice for an operating system than 98 was. the same held true for vista. when i started using it it wasnt even called vista yet(i think it was known as longhorn) but when the official release come to be it had most of the bugs worked out and imho runs fine. as for having difficulty with drivers and such if this is a problem your having then try updating your hardware. all new graphic and sound cards come vista and windows 7 ready. if your hardware is not compatible maybe its time to upgrade.

i can understand the reluctance to change from something you grown accustomed to and even though it still works fine doesnt mean that change is a bad thing. i mean the world ran fine without the internet yet here we are embrassing that change.

personally i use the computer mainly for research and gamming. i play all the latest games(fps are my favs) and have yet to run into any problem with vista.

Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

So basically if I purchase a full version of Windows 7 I can run the operating system from the disk and it is not going to affect my already installed Vista operating system? Could somebody tell me if Windows 7 has exactly the same keyboard and mouse controls in the control panel? It is absolutely imperative that they are either improved, or the same as Vista, if they have done away with these operations in control panel, I will not be able to use my mouse as I rely on the drag lock function that you can apply in mouse properties within control panel.

I was thinking about going for this version

www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Windows-Home-Premium-Version/dp/B002DUCMT2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1260374995&sr=1-4

from what i have seen so far windows seven is almost identical in functionallity as vista. i looks very similar with a few updated improvement. i have not had any problem yet with compatability with any programs or hardware.(these are still used on a vista os)

as for doing a dual boot all you need is an empty partion to install the new os into. install like any other os and when finished on a start up you will have a choice of os to pick from(vista or windows7).
