I did hear something about Monster Fish Keepers but I don't know if they have sorted it yet. I agree, there is no way that they will be able to compete with the company that manufactures Monster Drink, or whatever it's called. The best thing they can do is just stop things now before it gets too late and expensive. After all, it's just a fish website, a well-known fish website, but just an advice forum at the end of the day. There will be nothing wrong with them changing their name and logo, people will get used to it after a couple of weeks and they won't lose any of their members. I don't know how much money they make from merchandise, I suspect they make quite a bit of money from Google AdSense, but it certainly isn't going to be an astronomical amount.

If somebody tried to sue me then I certainly wouldn't fight it out in court, it just isn't worth it at the end of the day.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

They have some dignity i guess, and they must get funds from advertisers, and their online shop.
Plus MFK has ALOT of support not just from their own members, but fish hobbiests from all around the world.

to be fair I dont think anyone on here would say anything like flirt or shout abuse that would be considered abusive towards children/young teens on this site. Grant goes on facebook and the amount of kids on there 11/12 year olds that show hentai on his anime forums are unbelievable he has to block half of the members of they get kicked and they are all teens thinking they are big and smart.

I think its unfair to make people say look everyone Im 14 so I new and stupid thank you. Some kids are smart you know and caring and want to try they might find it rude and offensive to be pointed out as such. Perhaps people should mind their tongues and if they feel they are going to cause a legal suit then they have gone too far.

I just feel it will make people lie about their ages more and then they are not being honest from the start. We should be greeting teens and younger memebers as they are the next generations. I started fish keeping when I was 11 and in this day and age 11year olds are on the pc looking at sites like this instead of reading books or going to shops. I think I would have wanted to be greeted to the site in a warm manner and treated as an equal not a lowlife who knows nothing and feel like an outcast from the start.

just my thoughts I might be being over the top on the matter

Also MFK should just drop it like Penn says they are never going to win against something so big. It would be like me sueing disney when they have a go at me for my amvs.

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)

We are not trying to make anyone feel like an outcast Jnet. I think if anything it may help knowing if they are underage. We can put advice in simpler terms and maybe adjust recommendations to less expensive available options. I dont think anyone here assumes that someone younger is automatically stupid. And we always do greet everyone in a warm manner.

I know we are not and we are not like that on here I just think because your an adult doesnt mean you know better or because your a child you need it to be simpler.

I always love a saying my Grandma use to say and I think it works out to be correct.

she would say dont respect your elders because if they are a bitch/moody/grumpy/evil etc as a child they will be as an adult and as an old person.

I think this is very true. Some adults come on here and to be honest they are the worst you tell them they are wrong they tell you they know better as they have been doing it for years and then wont listen.

lol I am ranting, I know. I just hate it when people are racist, biast, ageist etc. Discriminating just irrates me. ;) I know that is not what was intended here. But you could say in the same way we could have a logo that says someone is a novise to the hobby or has experience but then who wants to put the labels on whos an expert or not.

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)

You are over-reacting. It's a legal issue.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

I think simply making puting date of birth at enrollment should suffice. most people wouldn't think to decieve at that point.

I remember being a kid, and on the internet I would just switch my age to say I was old enough. A lot of kids actually know more then their parents about computers these days, I know when I was a kid, my mom used to be pretty good with computers, and it sorta inspired me to try to do the things my mom could on a computer, and I ended up learning more then what my mom knows now.

I really do not think that making people show their age will make a difference, people will just change it to say they are older then what they really are. Also, not every parent is as caring as some, some parents will just hand their kid a laptop, and whatever they want just to make them be quiet. A lot of parents do no monitor their children on websites or what they are doing, and some kids may even get smart enough to find out your passwords or change settings you made. I was one of those kids, I will admit. So my mom just gave up trying to do things to monitor the computer, cause I would always find a way into it. I do believe that parents should know what their kids are doing on the internet, but with some children it is difficult.

Half of the hackers out there are teenagers with too much time on their hands afterall.

Again, it's a legal issue......if they lie, they lie, but OFL will be protected. Which is what this is all about.
