That sounds perfect ... it will just be for posting photos of different species of fish with their names and other information. I'd ask that questions were kept to an absolute minimum so as not to take up much real estate making searching and browsing through pictures as fast and easy as possible.

Posting information such as temperature, pH, diet, size, etc. along with the name is a very good idea. Maybe we should decide on a format. E.g. name first, size, temp, pH, diet, ... ? Any comments or suggestions about that? I suppose it would be fine if some of this information might be omitted and added/edited later.

Torally agree with pen just statistics only size of fish, size of tank, agression level, problems, decor maybe , maybe even who/where it was purchased, growth rate., collection point if known.
Maybe even leave it to know comments or questions as those can become.long winded and only have pics and stats any questions can be referenced in other threads. I also think it should be fish we either owned or have owned.

I agree ... comments and questions could be on a separate thread. For a gallery used as a reference tool, questions and comments would just clutter everything up.

Maybe it could look something like this

Aequidens metae
Yellow acara
5 inches at the moment can reach 6 or 7
Ph 6.4
Agression level- mild.
Temp is 81
Diet - hikari algae and regular sinking wafers, romain lettuce and peas Does not like nls or omega one pellets.

Decor
Kept in pfs and was much lighter in color. Darker substrate (black gravel and black backround) seems to bring out the colors. Likes hiding spaces under the drift wood.

Purchased from jeff rapps
Comments
Was very aggressive towards silver dollars but peaceful towards cichlids and catfish

Also maybe open it up to more than just cichlids.

Thise are just stats I could think of odd the top of my head.

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking about after the initial suggestion was "suggested" :-)

What I will do is create "cichlid profile" category, so people can start building up a really good database of fish. This will give people the opportunity to get differing opinions from people. But like I said, any comments made must relate directly to that specific fish. I've got a few things I've got to do first, but I will get a place sometime during the afternoon

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

This is awesome. I do plan on getting more tanks in the future and having something like this would make it so much easier to look at my options and find more fish. Especially with people like me that's are new to cichlids and fish in general and don't know a whole pile of different types.

This is going to be very helpful to me and anyone who uses it. Thanks in advance to everyone who will be taking the time to put their fish in the database and to OFL for providing the new category.

Thanks penn we have to get rocksor and dave to show off their fish now !

Are we sure we just want it to be cichlids. Might be useful to put all our past/current fish suck as dithers, cats, pleco and oddballs some may find the info usedul when setting up a comm tank.
