Paula created the topic: Should I introduce smaller ones?

Hello, I'm new to the forum & wanted to ask a question already.
I have a 75 gallon with 9 Africans in it. They've only been in the tank 2-3 weeks (already cycled beforehand). The fish in the 75 are about 2". I just got 3 more but they looked about 1/2 the size of the others once I got them home. Being a bit of a worrywart, I decided to put them in my established 29 gallon. I thought perhaps if they grew another inch or so, I could then transfer them. I realize the others will be bigger too but these 3 are so small! Am I being overly cautious?
Thanks

It really depends on which africans we are talking about. Can you grow them out for a month or so?

That's what I thought I'd do. There's a Milomo, 2 assorted ones(Red Zebra type & a blue/black striped one), & 6 Yellow Labs.

The 3 wee ones are 2 white Socolofi & another blue/black striped one.

Thanks

I'll have to view any reply tomorrow thank you!

These fish are Mbuna from lake Malawi and they can be pretty aggressive. It would really help if you would add 10 or so more. To help spread the aggression around. Mbuna are nearly always kept in fairly crowded conditions to reduce violence. Look at video from the lake, they live crowded there as well. You need to have a very good filter system and a lot of hides holes more than 1 per fish is nice but they do not need much to hide in. They love jumbled rocks. Feed a diet high in vegetable matter and feed a little several times a day to avoid bloats. Grow out the little ones till they are 2/3 size of the big ones. Have fun.

I've seen a lot of people recommend rearranging the decor when introducing new fish to help with aggression toward the new fish. might be worth trying when you decide to add them?
