I am arguing Popss point.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

I do believe more of a impact is made in the countries where a great deal of these fish originate, as the indigenous people eat everything they catch.

I do not see a problem with that, they have been doing it for thousands of years as your ancestors have. left alone it balances out.

point taken Ken, water levels dropping on a lake which was the point of the post. .

sorry to drag this off topic.

Darth going to leave this be as I just fell off my high horse :S

Also, just copying & pasting directly from the article:

"Years ago, it was the norm to catch about 5,000 fish a day"

I did read the article BK, & yes, enviromental changes have a good deal to do w/ this, but the above quote was from just one fisherman. One fisherman taking 5,000 a day probably X7 days per week. This has to be accounted for when talking about a fisheries decline. Any way you look @ this, it's man's fault.

Problem w/ that statement is is that there are exponentially more people having to feed exponentially more mouths, & these people think that the supply is endless. Look @ the Arapaima, almost extinct due to overfishing as a food fish.

May I stick my nose into this and politely state that it sounds like these fish species may go extinct? If this happens, we "evil aquarists" would be the parties responsible for PRESERVING the species due to the fact that we have been aquaculturing them for how many years now? .... Just my two cents, butting back out now, lol.
