Basically replace the sponge portion of the filter with clear tube. Put some screen at the bottom and top to keep the babies in....I'll write it up better and post it in the next couple days.

Thanks sounds good !!

Here are the wiggles, 7 days premature birth. And their grow out tub.

And an update on some of the other tank mates.

Trivia quiz.....how many varieties of frontosa are in these pictures........?

That is an air diffuser...just keeps the bubbles small so the current is less strong. I generally use a small stone but I am out right now.

Yep the kileasas live with the Kigoma fronts and some Congo Calvus. These particular fronts have never eaten live fish so they leave the sifters alone.....my Bismarck fronts would eat them quickly.

The wigglers just ate their first food, baby brine shrimp, it is good that they eat this early. Shows they are strong and feel good.

O ok I see ..

and really that crazy they do not eat them!! I bet it makes for a really cool tank to watch ... no to mention they are breeding in a community tank like that its really cool when you think about it ..

and glad to hear that about the Kileasa... seems to be a good strain

I do have to strip all the fry or separate the mommies as anything under an inch gets chomped in seconds, anything over is ignored. I would not recommend doing this with just any fronts. Yes it is a very nice community tank with cyps, julies, calvus, enantiopus (sifters ), and the fronts all breeding and happy in their niches. The julies and calvus in the rocks cyps in the top half of the water, sifters in the sand and the fronts wandering where they like. This tank is in my front room and I watch it more than the TV......of course with the kids the TV is on Max and ruby or Sesame Street so why watch it.

As with any mixed cichlid tank there is some risk of loss. I never put all my breeders in one tank. These fronts were raised with small fish around them and to date have not eaten anything over one inch long....anything shorter gets invited to lunch. Managing a community tank is very satisfying , to get everything just right takes knowledge and luck.

I added a link to some of my favorite photos to my sig...take a look.

The fry are doing great. They. Are very active, I have to be very care feeding them as they jump like rockets. Most have lost the egg sacks and only one random mortality as yet. I have to feed them five times a day and clean their box morning and night. Pics coming this evening of the developing fry.
