So this is a near future plan. Once I set up the 125 gal for my O and clown loaches I want to restock the 55 with some more fish. I was thinking Calvus but I'm not sure how many I can have or what tank mates would work. Anyone have any ideas for a nice stocked Calvus tank with some tank mates?

At first I was going to get a pollini and let him have the tank, I'm a sucker for fish with personality but then came across Calvus and thought I could actually have a tank with more than just one fish lol. So Calvus and tank mates for a 55 gal any help is appreciated.

Calvus and about 8 non jumbo cyps would look great, Kerenge Island cyps stay under 3.5 inch and are very brightly colored. you will want 4-6 Calvus to end up with 2 pairs. Sumbu dwarf calvus are smaller so you could have 3 pair. Calvus grow Very slowly about 1.5" a year. Also Consider a Comp or two. looks like a calvus but has a dished forhead. Muzi goldhead comps are a favorite. Calvus and comps need the cyps as dithers or they will hide the whole time you are around. lots of caves and shells, Moon snails or large escargot will keep them happy. be very cautious moving decorations as comps and calvus are great at hiding in cracks of ornaments removed from the tank where you find them later.

I'm very intrigued looking at these fish. Are the cyps schooling fish?also why is it necessary to have comps and calvus? Trying to learn before doing this set up.
