Oh wow that`s a big one :(
I bet he made a bit of noise doing it, you know it will heal quickly in good water don`t you?

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

there has been little to no change in behaviour since it happened, he still bosses the other fish around, so im not too worried.
the only thing i am worried about is why he got so spooked to begin with, i did move a filter to a different spot in the tank the other day so maybe he isnt used to that...

OUCH, I'm sure with the water changes you'll be doing he will mend right up in no time and you'll never know it happened. If you have other cichlids keep an eye as wounds on a fish tend to bring out the carnivore in some fishes.

Good luck.

 never heard of fish having nightmares, allthough i have had some fish-nightmares, and they're allways about broken tanks. :pinch: :pinch:

but my O's can get spooked badly, and nothing in peticular is happening at the time. I must say that my fish spook less, since i have my nightlights installed.
Prior to that , if someone were to turn on the roomlights, i'd have a couple of bouncing Oscars, banging against the lids...but like the other members stated, just keep your water in pristine condition, and the wound will heal pretty quickly.
This injury might leave a scar, though.
