Joker created the topic: Help Dominate Oscar killed everything.

So like i said i am new to this forum and also as an Oscarfish owner..When i first introduced myself I stated that i bought three oscars not knowing much about them and getting little info if probably non from the LFS...

I purchased a Blueberry Oscar under the impression that it was a natural breed and later found out how horrible the process was..I recently went on vacation which was much deserved and btw Spanish women are the most beautiful women on the planet lol anywayz...My dominate Oscar not only killed but ate the other two including the Blueberry and now he himself has a bluish tint to his front side gills...How hazardous is this situation for my black tiger which btw I have decided to keep by himself for better quality of life and less overstocking.

Sounds like it's just the dye they used on his departed tankmate that has gotten transferred during his feeding frenzy. How long were you gone and did you have any kind of auto feeder or a neighbor feeding them?

Sorry about your other fish, difficult to find out you've got a seriously dominant O like that but at least you know he's best left alone.

Personally, my Aro does an awesome job of keeping both my O's in check since I got him, I think they're both intimidated by the silver leviathan that stalks the top of the tank night and day.

lame that totally sucks

but it sounds like all of this could have be avoided with a little more research...im not saying accidents dont happen but...

also where are you getting these ink injected fish...you need to ask them to stop stocking suck fish...the colour dissappears anyways...so the novelty will also go

anyways sorry for the loss

The tank was overstocked anyway.Leasson learned, My only question was if the ''DYE'' would affect my (single fish) or, since he himself wasn't put through the stress most oscars that are dyed have had to undergo if his body would just eventually process the dye and wouldnt cause future health issues as opposed to the''BlueBerry,Who unfortunetly probably went through an extremely stressful exp. ...

I would say there probably isn't a huge chance of him having any negative effects from it. It may or may not fade over time.
