Emily created the topic: White Blotch

I came home from the weekend and found this on Captain. Heater busted on Friday, so I have kept my room at about 70*F. Only thing that is different is that his tank is not bare-bottom. The tank is clean as can be. From far away, it looks like he is missing a few scales, but close up, it just looks like he has a discolored spot and that is it. Is swimming around, playing with his reflection and eating perfectly fine. Any ideas?

Do you have any other decorations in the tank, most likely just smashed into something. As long as he's not in distress, I think you're ok, looks like missing scales to me.

No decorations what so ever. Nothing is in the tank. That is kind of why I worried. It is a white blotch that appeared out of no where.

the picture shows it is just an injury...perhaps got too close to the
heater.. did the heater broke the glass or just busted?????

You know for a few nights straight my Oscar would get spooked by a plant and jump into the lid. Maybe he is running into the lid in panic? It does look like an injury.

We have had our Groucho (Tiger O) for over a year now...have watched him grow from 2 inches to pushing 11 inches! LOVE watching him swim around in his little 55 gal world. We also have a fancy goldfish and a black moor in a separate tank. We love our fishies!...[IMG]
