So I've had my oscar for just about a week now, eats like an absolute monster! I've been feeding him arowana pellets which were given to me by a friend who's arowana had died. I've been feeding him about 5-6 pellets daily once a day, he fits about 4 in his mouth at any one time but will eat about 5 and sometimes 6 in a span of 2 minutes.
Just recently I noticed his anus is a lil' swollen, is he constipated? He's still extremely energetic and acting like he's hungry at ALL times. Once in a while I'd throw a cricket in as a treat could I be overfeeding? :S
I'll be purchasing some peas for him soon and see if that helps. But any other advice would be well appreciated. ;)

If you are noticing just the anus swelling and not the whole of the abdomen then this is normally a little bit of constipation. Hopefully what will happen if he will produce an enormous turd which will clear it. I've seen this lots of times in the past, it's not normally something you have to worry about. Try feeding peas which is good for the digestive system.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

my 4 inch oscar always has this issue, his butt always swells then he takes a huge poop shortly after.
and i heard that feeding peas only works if you give it to them regularly to keep up the digestion syste, other than that it doesnt help much.
