Wow thats a lot of scratches and scrapes from only one night!
Its a wonder you didnt hear him crashing about. Mine have had a good gash or two on their heads before i took out the sharp rocks but now i can`t even tell where they were marked. Hopefully yours will heal up the same way, your water is about as good as it gets so it should be ok :)

hi there

1. the oscar is a very tough fish.
2. the wound should heal well.
3. it is paramount to maintain excellent water condition during the healing phase.
4. water change 20% once two days.
5. for me, i add salt too, up heater!

Sounds to me like he spooked, i've seen my little guys dart all over the tank from one end to the other when they get spooked. Everyone has you covered, keep the water clean, and you already got rid of the collision object so you should be ok.

And yea, i'm not a salt person either, freshwater don't need no salt!

Sorry to hear that your oscar is hurt :(

My oscar had gotten a pretty good gash about 2 years ago. with pristine water she healed up really fast, and all I see now is just the tiniest dimple.

Hope yours does the same :)
