My 8 yr old Oscar is very weak, unable to swim and laying on its side on the bottom. I checked water and all is good. He doesnt appear to have any disease. Does anyone know if he could just be dying from old age, or have any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!

What size is your tank?

Ammonia and Nitrite should be zero. Nitrates should be less than 40ppm, but ideally less than 20ppm.

Do a 50% water change everyday for the next 3-5 days and see if his condition improves.

Can you upload pics of your oscar?

Oscars can live 10+ years.

80 gal tank. Water tested ok, the fish is probably about 10 yrs old.
I did a 50% water change yesterday and it seems like he got worse. Now, he looks like maybe theres either a white spot on his head or he hurt himself
flopping on the rocks. Its horrible to watch! I've had this fish for at least
6 years or so...
