jayjay created the topic: my tiger oscar

Hi there people. I need help in knowing what is wrong or happening with my oscar. My black tiger oscar recently has some form of pink thing petruding out where its anus region is. It goes in and out but stayed out for awhile and my other oscar has 2 very thin little white tenticle thing sticking out near or at its anus. Never seen this before. Can anyone help.

Wellcome to our community. Is this pink things still sticking out? The white tentacle thing you describe, doesn't look like little worms?, Are they still there, or have they fallen out? What have you been feeding your fish? And finally, have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?

It is only one pink thing still sticking out. Quite thick. Probably 5mm out and 2 or 3 mm wide. The other oscar has 2 very thing tenticles hanging out with one of the tenticles with a dark tip. Been feeding them cichild gold pellets and frozen food like blood worms.the pink thing has gone in more but slightly out.and havnt done test on water no

I wonder if this pink thing is the females breeding tube? does it look foreign in any way? What I mean by this is does it look as if it's going to fall out, or does it look part of the body? I really don't know about the other things, could be worms/parasites, but where would they have got them from? Does the fishes abdomen look swollen in anyway? Best thing to do is monitor the situation and see if things get worse, stay the same, or clear up , keep us posted. But you must get yourself a water test kit as it is very very important that you test the water if things are not right.

It looks connected to the fish. And coming out of one of the 2 holes it has. It had completly gone back in and then just come back out. Not sure where any worms or parasites could of come from really. But will definatly keep an eye on it and get water tested.

Photographs are always helpful so if it is possible to get a really good one, please try. However, it is notoriously difficult to get a really good photo of a fish unless you have got a really good camera that has different settings that enables you to adjust the camera accordingly.

The white things are probably some of the blood worms coming out in its poo and the black on the end is the head of the bloodworm I believe and the oscar is just a little bound up. I've seen the white blood worms coming out before lots of times looking white, stringy and not fully digested. The pink on the other one maybe prolapsed anus? Possibly? Pics and or vid would help. And feed shelled peas for a couple days.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

If you have your water tested anywhere make sure it's a liquid test , not strips. And ask and write down exact levels to post here. Don't just let them tell you it's " fine ".
