Hello I am new here. I have had Oscars sense I was a kid. ( Not anywhere close to a kid now!) Anyways I just got three 1 1/2 inch long baby Oscars. Two are the red tiger Oscars and one is what they told me a yellow Zebra Oscar. She is the dark Olive/black with yellow instead of red. I have looked all over for a picture and a name for this Oscar and have come up blank with the name. Did find a picture of a large Oscar the same color .
But my "Zebra" Oscar is not growing. I have had all three of them for over a month and the two reds have grown. But not her even though she eats like a little piggy. I have had to remove her two tank mates as they are now twice her size in every way. They continue to grow. She still remains close to 2 inches long. She eats pellets and mealworms . She is all kinds of active. I feed her three to four times a day and she eats it all. What is she really? And Is she going to be a baby size longer then "normal" Oscars?

Hello and welcome to OFL. Of course we need a pic of this fish to see what indeed you have there. Also, could you provide some details of your tank size, filtration and whether or not the tank is fully cycled. The more details you can offer, the better we can determine any problems now or in the future.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!

Are you sure she's not growing in width instead if length? She might just have a different body shape than the other two. One of my Oscars grew like that..instead of long he's widish.

There is always the chance of a runt. A few years back I had two tigers and one grew at a fast rate and the other grew about half the size. As the smaller one grew I saw that it was starting to develop a deformity to it gills and was having difficulty eating and breathing. This deformity was not noticeable when it was purchased but as it grew out started to become evident. So there is always a possibility of a runt or possible health problems too.

Ummm I would add a picture if I knew how. Lol. I have it on my profile as I figured out how to upload it there.
Any who she is in 55 gallon tank with a marine land 75 Gallon filter system. The tank was set up a few weeks before we got her.
The water temp is kept at 72 degrees. She is very active and follows me back and forth in her tank begging for more food or attention. She likes my hand in her tank.

No just my little Black Pearl. That's her name. The other two Tiger Oscars are now in a 75 gallon tank. Black Pearl is alone in the 55 gallon.
