Unless some tubes have stains I don't see that being a problem. I'm looking forward to that other test result.

Have just re-tested today and water params are perfect again, ammonia back to 0.0ppm. Not sure what happened yesterday but have just sent email to API to see if they have had this issue before, will let you know.

Are you sure you did not test just right after a water change?

Those API kits are tricky things, and little mistakes when using it can mess up your results pretty badly. If you're anything like me and test water regularly it can become a bit automated, and it's really easy to accidentally pick up the wrong bottle. I put one drop of the 2nd ammonia bottle in by mistake when I was testing nitrate and it altered the result I got.

I've also gotten a slight green reading when testing ammonia due to a similar screw up. I'd put the nitrite bottle's lid on one of the ammonia bottles, so a bit of the blue nitrite solution got into the ammonia bottle. I had a new ammonia kit lying around and used that instead and got a 0ppm reading with the new one.

Lamm quite possible I may have mucked up test as you say it can become a little automated. Think I will just stick with the new kit and see if I hear back from API

Got email back from API had asked why I would get different readings from different kits. They say that each lot of test kits are tested before leaving and one mismatch, is a fail and the lot is discarded. Not sure how I could get different readings but if I could drop my kits in they would test them for me. Bit hard me being in Australia and they being in North America. May just have to put it down to possible contamination. FYI it doesn't which test tube you use as long as they are thoroughly rinsed.
