For the past 3 or 4 days she hasn't eaten. Has nothing to do with adding the heterospilus. I did a round of Epsom soaked pellets and she ate fine. Then skipped a day then gave them a leaf of.Romain lettuce which she and the hrp devoured she probably at most of it. The next day I skipped a feeding. Then fed regularly breaking up two large algea wafers to keep the ad's occupied while I fed the normal mix of foods to everyone else. Dory grabbed one and it looked like she injured herslef she began twitching and swimming erratically. Since then all.she does is spit her food out. Tried nls and omega one sinking along with hikari sinking discs which are her favirote.

Could she have gotten injured from the large broken algae disc or could something else be going on?

Soften the pellet first. Her mouth maybe raw due to injury and the hard pellets are agitating it.

I wouldn't worry until she quits putting food in her mouth for 2 weeks.

you know rock I have never had a fish that could not chew pellets. If it did have problems it would keep eating and spitting it out until it could eat the food. (obviously softening it since its in the water also)

But I agree with rock far to early for real concern and softening food cant hurt. I have water logged a lot of food in the past so it would not float since I have an overflow

Was she swimming erratically and twitching only after putting the pellet in her mouth? She is normal otherwise?

Spaz attacks like that are pretty normal for cichlids aren't they? I mean so long as they aren't doing it all the time. I have seen Poseidon do that on occasion.

Regarding the eating behavior, you have been doing a lot of changes to her environment over the last couple of months (adding driftwood, removing Capone, added Silver dollars, added another cichlid). Perhaps she is just getting a bit moody with all the changes and doesn't feel like eating? I wouldn't worry too much yet like the others have said.

DING DING DING DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!!! B)

If Dory was a JD, she'd be hiding by now......some cichlids can't handle instability as well as others.

I would also simply try a decent size WC......that should help heal up any abrasions, etc.

I have had luck in the past getting hunger strikers to accept frozen bloodworm. Not much for nutrition, but seems to ignite the taste buds.
