During other treatments Ive used Seachem paragard, malachite green, salt at 2 Tablespoons per 5 gallon ratio. But temps were kept lower since it was thought to be bacterial and I was looking to slow it down. Low temp will also slow down ich and velvet when you want these to grow quickly and get off the fish so that you can kill it in its free form.

It looks like it has not spread any more lately but did start as a really small patch only on one side of the fish then it slowly worked its way around the belly and on top to the other side. That does not seem like ich in behavior. I am doing a 25% water change tonight along with a re-dose of Parasite Guard and increasing salt again. The temperature has been a bit of an issue. I have a Hydor in line heater and the thing just does not heat water the same as a traditional heater. I am going to have to pull out an old tube heater and get those temps up.

Well in speaking with another hobbyist he recommends Clout to kill whatever this parasite is. Went ahead and ordered some on Amazon, will be here in two days. Now I have a few different treatment options available.

Into the second treatment of Parasite guard and not sure how to describe what I see. Some of the spots look like they lightened up a bit and others look really intense. The little 'white head' things looks angry. I dont know if this is a parasite dying or something else. The side that it originally started on looks bad and around the stomach too. So not much of an improvement.

I really at some point need to figure out at what point to stop spending money. I can easily say I have spent $200 in meds on this fish at this point. A friend of mine who is a very experience fish keeper has said if I got to the point that I was done he would take it and try to heal it. The catch? He gets to keep it. Totally fair to me since I know he would end up spending a ton of time and money on it, like I have already. Anyway not going down that road yet. But when you actually put a price on how much it is to treat and that it just keeps going higher and higher, it is a bit discouraging. I could do a lot of other things with $200...

Have you tried the salt dips? It would have to be high concentration just like Lam's dosing. It just takes work, and cost very little.

Have not tried salt dips but have had aquarium concentration at a point where I had 2 Tablespoons per 5 gallon. Whatever this is seems pretty salt resistant but have not tried a high concentration dip yet.

I think that Lam used 10.5 tablespoon per gallon for less than 15 seconds.

Another cheap solution to try

There's also peroxide bath at 1 teaspoon per 1/2 gallon for 15-30 minutes or if fish start to splash (no aeration, and mixed slowly prior to adding fish).

I really think the copper sulfate will be the solution. Assuming it's velvet, and I feel pretty sure it is at this point, that's the treatment of choice. Did you get in touch with the person whose fish had similar-looking symptoms? Any advice from there?

Did you get the tank temp up with a second heater? I know you only have about a week to try new meds. The sentry mardel coppersafe 4 fl oz. (118 mL) treats up to 94 gallons for up to 1 month.

EDIT: I think the salt and/or hydrogen peroxide baths would also be worth trying. You definitely have a sufficient net. :)
