sammie created the topic: Temperature

Hello again O community,

I read on the oscarfishlover.com page that the most comfortable temp for oscars is about 80.6. So, I do keep my tank at this temp. My question is, what is every else keeping their tanks at? I'm wondering if I can lower it a bit to try and save on the electric bill. Or will this not be a healthy move for an oscar?

Thanks!

Oscars do best in 80-84. Cooling the tank down wont do anything for your hydro bill. Heaters, while of generally high wattage, only come on in spurts of a minute or so, they dont run round the clock. If you notice your heater staying on extended, it may be too small for your volume
