My white oscar fish shown in video is badly injured this was how we brought it. Noticed that it doesn't eat after being here for more than a month scales are slowly coming back. I am after some advice on feeding the oscar, what is best? I wanted to know also if there are any tips for catering to its condition? tia

I can't seem to upload a video or pic but it is currently around 12cm juvenile white albino very timid and hides behind rocks in the tank away from sight of other oscar fish in close by tanks. Been scaled-down both sides of body but still not that bad of condition from the when I brought it.

Hello and welcome to OFL. Pics are best transferred via Photobucket, video from YouTube. Little more info please. What size is this hospital tank, is it cycled and have you been providing plenty of fresh water? Lutino and Albino Oscars are VERY light sensitive. Keep the tank very dim at best. He may be still stressing from both being injured, moving to new quarters and acclimating to different water. If he appears to be improving, even slightly, thats a positive. What have you been offering for food? Not the best, but in my experience frozen bloodworm usually brings fish out of their hunger strikes.

At the moment she is in a 1 foot square tank being fed Hikari pellets and getting far too much light going off your reply. the tank has weekly water changes of 30 - 40% and 1.5 teaspoons of pure sea salt for healing only. Salt is not in normal day to day tanks. Condition has been a slow improvement but is improving and ever so gradually becoming less shy. Will greet you alot more often now than in the beginning. The tank was cycled minimally as the urgency for saving the lil ones life dictated it really.

Ok, I can certainly appreciate your compassion for this fish.... but, heres what has to happen. Instantly you need to change more water. Every day. In less than a week the fish needs a MINIMUM 55gal tank with adequate established filtration. You cant keep an Oscar of any size in a tank that small. Stress from cramped quarters, poor water quality will cause permanent damage to the fish.
