Hi, my oscar wont eat unless the pellet is dropped right in front of him. When its feeding time he chills at the bottom, so I just come back every 5 minutes until he's at the top. Is this an effective strategy or shall I just drop him a few pellets and when he gets to them he gets to them. I'd like to follow the feed for 2 minutes or until he is done, but he is hanging out at the bottom and doesn't know its feed time. lol.

Also I have hikari staple in baby size and hikari gold in mini size, my oscar is like the size of a feeder goldfish atm, is he a candidate to get the mini size yet or not as of yet?

If the fish has to grind up the pellet or crumbs spew out the gills, then pellet is too big. If the fish is generally healthy and active, he will eat when he is hungry. A baby Oscar cant eat for 2 mins, the stomach just isnt that big. I have 2 baby O's myself, They fill up in like 15 seconds. FYI, Hikari is decent food, but the Staple is bottom of their line. Gold or BioGold is the preferred Hikari offering. When Staple is gone dont get any more. If you have access to Northfin or NewLifeSpectrum, I suggest using either of those brands. Cost more, but is higher quality. Less waste produced, they eat less of it as well.Quality over quantity every time
