AZ Steve created the topic: new bichir

I've been wanting a new bichir for awhile. But I'm unsure. I was reading about the albino Senegal.. says they only get 12 inches. Does anyone have one? Know someone with one? If thats max size? Idea's? GO!! Lol

I tend to use this site for an idea on sizes

www.seriouslyfish.com/species/search/polypterus

Max for a regular Senegal is 20", so I would think that the albino would be the same.

A P. delhezi sounds like the one that you should get, maxing out at 14" (minus tail fin).

This vendor in Az would be the one to go to, if you want to ensure that you get the right species of Polypterus.

I've read if you get a wild caught Senegal you have a good chance of getting one to 16-20 inches but most captive bred one's rarely get over 12... Not sure I believe this or not. Any thoughts if it makes a difference.. WC or CB
