Great write up!

I have two Senegal Bichirs. (Sen Sen). I have gotten them to feed during the day.

I have them feeding on:

Sinking carnivore pellets (Hikari)
Meal worms
red worms
Hikari Cichlid pellets (I know right? Mine even surface skim for food which is uncommon).

One thing you could note is some of their behaviors.

Since some bichirs are pretty much blind they "hunt" by smell.

They also will dark accross the tank when spooked. "Fight or flight"

Just like oscars, they will eat anything that will fit in their mouth, and occasionaly eat something larger than they can swallow , thus risking choking themselves.

Yea, mine will come up after cichild pellets as well, now with two giant arowana in there, the pellets tend to get inhaled really quick so he eats tilapia that falls to the bottom, or the sinking carnivore pellets. I did see him grab a market prawn and chew on it for quite a while lol.

But I do like to balance all my fishes diets, so even occasionally they'll all get bloodworms, personally, I prefer the Hakari frozen cube packs as opposed to the flat packs. That way they get a more measured amount.

And you know, bichirs, aren't all that hard to come by, at least here, the LFS by me just got like 3 or 4 new 3" delhizi's in the other day, I was very tempted to get one.
