JBare created the topic: Angelfish Question

As most of you know, my Mom's Koi angelfish had babies and I'm going to be taking a few. I went and got a 46 gallon bow front they will hopefully be happy in, it's currently cycling. Here's the question. I asked her to check her water's PH because we live in different cities. Mine is 6.8 and her PH came out to 7.8 maybe a bit higher. Will this be a big deal or will that drastic of a change kill them?

Is this Ph reading out of the tap or the aquarium? I am not a expert by any means, but i think as long as you acclimate them they should adjust. You may have to acclimate them longer than normal. I am not sure, but I think your ph of 6.8 is more prefered by anglefish

Drip acclimate over a couple hours, that'll help them adjust slowly. Put them in a bucket and feed a piece of airline tubing with a knot in it from tank to bucket. Start siphon through airline tube and tighten or loosen the knot to adjust the drip.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

This is how i acclimate all my fish, your goal is to double the amount of water in the bucket with the fish in about an hour. After the hour pour the water from the bucket through a net to catch the fish then add them to your tank, never put someone else's water in your tank regardless of where it came from
