Bri B created the topic: 10 gallon possibilities

My 10 gal is properly cycled (thanks to my Danios) anyway I'm considering going with my 2 mini julii Cory Cats and 2 dwarf gourami. Has anyone kept dwarf gourami and if so how was it? both of these species max out at about 2-3 inches so I believe the 4 of them will do fine with a healthy wc regiment and diet. Looked into she'll dwellers but they are expensive, hard to get and I would rather have the dwarf gourami. They have such a beautiful color. If anyone has any other 10 gal suggestions please chime in. The Danios are getting rehomed so I have a cycled 10 gal canvas to work with.

The cory cats don't have to go in either so I'm game for any setup that is good looking and healthy for the fish.

The male dwarf gourami is a fish I've meant to get several times. Either they didn't have them or I found a betta that won out every time. I'd enjoy two of those in a 10 gallon. They're very pretty and calming. They also are labyrinth fish like betta.

Mike I've been looking into basically every fish that can do well in a 10 gal and the dwarf g keeps looking better. So beautiful and small. With good filtration and wcs I think a pair will look awesome in this tank. I have it pretty bare with a nice natural tone substrate and green plant deco. The color would pop for sure.

The nitrite has finally went to zero so the tank is in perfect specs for its permanent residents. It's just across from my O tank so it gets the python treatment every 48 hours.

I have a 10 gallon same as you. I also have all three of the plants on the left XD I am thinking of changing stuff around in mine 10 as well. I had a gourami named Galileo and he was the best. He was so beautiful amd would always come right up to the glass. He was a brilliant ice blue. I would defiantly get one(or two). And for the Cory I have those as well they are somewhat antisocial but they are still cute. You have great stocking ideas :) snails are also a good idea for a ten gallon. They are super cute shrimp could work too

Red cherry shrimp are really pretty, but they go best against a black substrate. They can be difficult to see. In my 10 gallon planted tank, I had the one betta, 'tang', (would have been a dwarf gourami), 2 cherry shrimp, 2 white pearl shrimp (about 2-3x size of red cherry shrimp), 1 mystery snail, 1 golden snail, and 1 otocinclus. The snails died a week apart after about a month and man did they smell bad when I took them out (had to find them first). The betta figured out that he could kill and eat the red cherry shrimp, so he picked them off one at a time. One of the white pearl shrimp would actually try to steal the shrimp from him after he had stuffed himself. If you haven't seen the video 'Tang vs. Shrimp', check it out. The otocinclus, which is like a tiny sucker fish or catfish, the pearl white shrimp and the betta are doing well now. I don't think a gourami would kill a red cherry shrimp, but no one thought a betta would. As for the snails, I had little luck with them. Two gourami, an otocinclus, and 2 or 3 red cherry and/or white pearl shrimp would make for a nice 10 gallon. The shrimp and otocinclus will also help keep down algae in the tank.

The tank looks fantastic Mike. I would really like to get a,planted tank going. I just haven't done the research yet as far as what kind of lighting and nutrition the plants need to thrive but they look so nice. From what I understand they also keep nitrate levels low as well which is great
