What meter do you use Rocksor? I don't have a TDS meter currently; all I could really do was test the GH/KH/pH and slow the drip acclimation as much as possible. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how she goes over the next few days to see if I was slow enough with it.

I use a HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester. If the old water and new water differ by 50ppm, I generally don't worry about dumping the fish in (assuming I get the fish from my local area). Now if it is different by a 100+ ppm, a drip will help will acclimatization, and I do a 50% removal of the water every 30 minutes from the drip bucket that the fish is in and allow the drip to continue.

This is a good TDS meter and relatively cheap. Not sure if available in your neck of the woods.

Thanks. Awesome, it actually ships to Australia for once. I'll see if I can grab one locally in the morning, if not I'll order it tomorrow.

On another note, 50% removal every 30 minutes is around the ballpark of what I was doing with the drip. Was slower to start off with though. That makes me feel a bit better.

@Ben: Haha, you and Rocksor linked the same thing

Sorry about the derail but....
Rock other than acclimating a new fish what is beneficial about knowing the tds?

Good save Lamm, the fish really looks good all things considered. I can't believe it is even alive. I also can't believe that the jack wagon that had it actually charged you. Good lord if you don't want it just give it away.

TDS will let you know how much dissolved organics are in the tank. If you do enough water changes per week, then TDS from your aquarium should be no higher than 50ppm from that of your tap water prior to a water change.

Well she's doing a bit better this morning, and seems to be defecating normally. Nothing that would indicate parasites at least. I'm noticing that she's got quite a few scrapes on her sides that I'll need to keep an eye on. Still plays dead when I walk into the room.

Ganbie's really hyped up since her tank got set up which is highly entertaining. He's hyped up to begin with but he's acting like someone overloaded him with sugar... or crack.

On another note, I think my new vitachem finally arrived! Going to go pick it up from the post office in an hour or two.
