Yeah the base wasn't even pulled out of the sand it just looked like somebody went at the leaves with a pair of shears.

What temp do you keep Thor at? I'm guessing around 78? Currently at 81 but plan on bringing that down once I know for certain he didn't bring ich with him. That and i know staying at 81 is probably not best for his temper.

How often should I feed? Currently one meal a day.

Thor lives in 80-82 degrees. He doesn't eat every day. He lets me know when he wants food, comes up and does the feed me dance. Few months back he went 16 days no food. Just didn't want any. He is a bit picky still, rarely eats the Omega1 or Hikari that most of the others get. He loves Massivore, fd krill, will wolf down whole jumbo shrimp, big chunks of tilapia. Gets his vitamins with Seachem Nourish. Your guy is likely around 2yrs old, so I wouldn't feed every day. Quality over quantity

I'm not sure how old he actually is but that's what I was thinking as well.

Yeah I really lucked out on this guy always being hungry and eating everything. Good sign he wasn't raised on feeders. Will keep him on nothing but pellets for a few weeks at least before I start giving him treats though. Don't want him getting any ideas lol.

I'll take your advice and cut back on the feeding.

When/if I buy a new house this year I have the feeling I'll have more than 1 tank setup lol.

Something I do with all my adult cichlids.. once a month I feed Friday morn, then nothing until Monday afternoon. Gives them a chance to fully digest and purge the system.

Nice looking Jag! Great score. I gather that you are Canadian if you are using cichlaholics.com?

Yep, from British Columbia. Cichlaholics.com is the only cichlid specialist I know of in Canada.

I tried once with Jeff Rapps but shipping across the border into Canada is extremely expensive and he's not able to fly them out with my local airport. Nearest international airport is 10 hours away. Pretty nice guy to deal with though.

My Jag is getting pretty bold around my hands during cleaning. I think it's curiousity at the moment but I have a feeling he's going to lay a bite on me pretty soon lol.

Suprd71 do you think it would be beneficial to find a pellet that has higher protein content? My current Hikari Gold sinkers are 40%.

You want to see your fish go apes**t for pellets, get some Massivore. 47%. All my fish love it, but only the more carnivorous ones, Thor, Dovii, Midevil and RTM get it regular. FD krill is 60%, Thor digs that too. Not to say that quality cichlid pellets are not good at %'s in the high 30's or 40, in fact your fish will do very well with that. You want him to do AWESOME, get him on Massivore.

That's a great looking jag! I really want to get a jag, but I have too many tanks already. It's definitely one of my top favorites.
