@Rocksor - agree ... I removed a term similar to 'wide range' regarding water temp and parameters and replaced it with the most common views on the subject followed by my own experience regarding oscars' water temp, softness, etc.

Since the forum is oscarfishlover and there are many here who own or have owned oscars with more experience than I, please advise me of anything that you would add, change or clarify. I plan to add to the profile here and there. I figure since it is the oscar it should be detailed and cover more ground. For example, I just added suggestions for the aquarium lighting level. Next I plan to put in a category about behavior.

Really enjoying this thread at the moment, thanks to those that have taken the time and effort to contribute. This should be a really good resource for the members that are thinking of expanding into other species. I was thinking maybe a short video could be added to each of the species so that we could possibly look at the aquascaping required be it driftwood , substrate or even plants? A short video would give so much more information. With the Oscar section if we could get some videos of members with adult Oscars in say a 55g a 75g and maybe a 90g setup we could refer the new members who constantly join being told a 30g would be sufficient. We could refer them to this thread or possibly copy the video to their post so that they can see what an adult Oscar looks like in these size tanks. What do you think?

Ernie - that sounds like a good idea, especially regarding tank size for oscars. If not a video, a picture of an adult oscar in a 55, 75, and/or 90 gallon could be taken to illustate how little swimming room there actually is. I'm always amazed when my o turns vertical in the front of the tank or in a corner. He takes up half the tank height. It would be good to privide that link (or picture) whenver someone shows up with an oscar stuffed in a little tank.
