was thinking was a small mouth or striper as we call them in cali at first. but nope that's a sea bass. he got there on his own.

No, that's a Striped bass (.Morone saxatilis)...a baby, but a Striper nonetheless (hence the stripes).....I've caught a LOT of these bad boys(& black sea bass) in the waters of NJ...over in Cali they have White sea bass, while on the East coast we have black sea bass....
