How much are you supposed to make for flipping burgers? If all you can get is a minimum wage job, you better work 2 to make a living.....if corporations pay these people a high wage, the cost of doing business goes up, & guess who that gets passed on to?

www.cnbc.com/id/101675236?__source=xfinity|mod&par=xfinity

If waitresses make $15 an hour, guess what? The tip goes way down.....what do you need to be tipped for if you're grossing $600 per week?

$15 an hour is what skilled labor starts out at...not for flipping burgers.

How much are you supposed to make for running a cash register or pouring coffee @ Starbucks?

I'm all for people being able to support themselves....but go get an education or learn a trade & make a better life for yourself....but seriously, if that's what type of work you can get, work 2 of them to make a decent living. I've had to do it in the past, so my feeling is I have no sympathy for people who expect to work 40 hours or less @ a job they knew was minimum wage & expect to support a family....get off your duff & go get a 2nd job.

Well, lack of education, has proven that these fast food workers don't realize that minimum wage does not equal living wage for even a single person to be able to afford renting their own place. Expect to have room mates if you have a minimum wage job.

I agree 100% Darth.

Minimum wage jobs are supposed to be starter jobs for high school/college kids and old retired folks who just want to get out of the house and away from the wife for a while.

"Make a living wage" and raise a family flipping burgers at McDonald's? Are you F'ing kidding me?

Motivate yourself and learn to do something that people will pay you more than minimum wage to do. Damn.

G I couldn't have saidb it better minimum wage was set for people mostly kids to enter the work force if employers have to pay that amount out guess what less jobs..... this is probably all part of the hate the successful/rich movement. If someone can get 15 for flipping burgers then what motivation Will they have to push themselves for a better education and make 30 50 or 100 an hour.

Go to school, get an education, go to uni. get a job.

Thats insane, that would prob work out the same wage as a nurse in the uk, who has done 5 years training

LPN's make considerably more than $15 an hour.....I work in a nursing home running the warehouse, & I know they make around $40/hr; they could make more if they worked for a private hospital. (We get state money & the compensation is set).

Just goes to show you what an education can get you.....

I'm sorry, but NFW you should even think about making that kind of money for working in the fast food industry....to me, that's the height of laziness. And this comes from a person who years ago @ one point had to work 2 low-paying jobs just to make ends meet. You can't afford to live off of what you're making, get up off your lazy a$$ & go get a 2nd job. Boo-hoo-hoo, stop your bitching, do something about it, & stop expecting OTHER people to take care of you....maybe you should have paid attention when you were in school. :pinch:

I was thinking that $15 = £10 so if they worked 44 hour week that would be £440 so a month your talking £1600+

In the uk nurses who are newly qualified wont earn as much as that.

I worked at mcdonalds while I was at school and now im an chem eng at BP !!!

Get your head down at school, there is plenty of time for drink and girls later in life haha

$15 = 8.91 BPS.....UK Nurses are GROSSLY underpaid...as I see what the nurses that work here go thru on a daily basis dealing w/ tne residents who live here, not sure why anyone would want to work in that field over there, or even how they live, if that's accurate. Hell, McDonald's workers make more than that!!!

From NHS Website - Salaries for Band 5 under the NHS Agenda for Change Pay Rates (the entry point for graduate nurses) start at £21,388, rising to £27,901. Salaries in London attract a high-cost area supplement.
